WOOL FIBRE
Below are three cross sections of different fibre types
SYNTHETIC FILAMENT
A solid non-breathable, non-biodegradable noodle, made from fossil-fuel derived material. This type of synthetic is found in clothing worldwide, known as Polyester, Nylon, Elastane, Polyamide... the list goes on.
SYNTHETIC CONDUIT FILAMENT:
A solid noodle as above, but this time with air pockets, to mimic wool fibre's breathability. This type of synthetic fibre is found in your duvet filler.
ZQ WOOL FIBRE
A breathable, naturally complex structure, that's finer than your hair. It's like a mini brain within each staple length! It'll keep you warm, dry, it's fine, soft and silky, lightweight and breathable, provides good levels of UV protection and prevents stink!
FIBRE THICKNESS
Wool is classified by the thickness of its fibres. This thickness is measured in microns; one micron is equal to 0.001 mm. The lower the number, the finer the micron and the softer the wool.
SUPERFINE: BELOW 17.5 MICRON FIBRE
These are very fine wool fibres that are silky soft, making them perfect for next-to-skin clothing and suiting.
FINE: 17.5-25 MICRON FIBRE
This wool is still very soft, yet slightly stronger and more durable, and is used in activewear clothing and classic fashion.
MID-MICRON: 25-35 MICRON FIBRE
This type of wool is used for upholstery and heavy outer clothing layers like jackets.
STRONG: 35+ MICRON
This robust wool is snug yet durable enough to be made into luxurious and comfortable, hard-wearing carpets.
